Happy August from STEM From! Today we will cover seven STEM events you should look out for this month!
August 8th-9th: 4th Applied Research International Conference on STEM (ARICSTEM)
ARICSTEM Boston 2024 at Harvard Club of Boston is dedicated to conducting an excellent research conference that celebrates diversity and knowledge. This event promises uncongenial locations to broaden horizons, comfort, and an editorial board from various disciplines and backgrounds. The conference will focus on discussions related to business, education, and technology, establishing network ties, narrowing the gap between academic and practical knowledge, and more. August 12th - August 16th: Discovery Learning Camp
Taking place at Bishop Blanchet High School in Seattle, Washington, the Discovery Learning Camp spans across four days. Designed for 5th-8th graders, students will take 3 class sessions in various subjects including but not limited to STEM, writing, art, and social justice. August 13th: Embracing Imperfection-Redefining Failure in STEM
At Pier 57 in New York City, a panel embracing failure as a natural process will be held. The New York Academy of Sciences and Hudson River Park will tackle exploring failure as an important step as opposed to a final verdict, as well as deconstructing the stigma around it. The diverse panelists also aim to unpack strategies to bounce back, perseverance in the face of failure, and how embracing imperfection can fuel creativity. August 14th-15th: Summit on STEM, the Arts, and Design
At the Marshall Student Center in Tampa, Florida, a two-day summit will be held. According to the organizers, the event is “aimed to foster innovation by integrating STEM's analytical strengths with creative insights of the arts and design.” Learn more about the event here!
August 16th: Western Idaho Fair
The Western Idaho Fair takes place in Garden City, Idaho every year. While the entire fair itself is not STEM-themed, there will be a STEM-themed day on August 16th! Individuals of all ages can find a variety of activities to engage in! Additionally, STEM From’s founder Dr. Carina Minardi will be attending the event! Click here for more information!
August 17th: S.T.E.M. Exploration Day
This event will be at the Alive Center in Naperville, Illinois, focusing on a day filled with STEM activities. The organizers promise fun demonstrations, hands-on experiments, workshops, and more! The event is geared towards families of students in kindergarten through eighth grade, but all ages are permitted. Learn more here!
August 24th: STEM Fest 2024
Held at the Pennington Student Activity Center in Hammond, Louisiana, this festival celebrates back-to-school season with a fun STEM celebration. Hands-on activities are available for families and children across all ages for FREE! Additionally, the hosts will be providing good tips for parents with STEM-driven children.
